Smithfield Culinary, a leading pork processor with a dedication to culinary arts, announced its support of America’s restaurant industry and its workforce by furthering their partnership with CORE: CHILDREN OF RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES to aid food and beverage service employee’s affected by COVID-19.

During The Great American Takeout, people are encouraged to order at least one delivery or pick-up meal to show support for the struggling restaurant community.

For every social post with #thegreatamericantakeout hashtag today, Smithfield Foods will make a $5 donation, up to $100,000, to CORE: CHILDREN OF RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to serving food and beverage service employees with children who are faced with qualifying life-altering circumstances and in need of support. Donations made to the CORE COVID-19 Relief Fund will go directly to food and beverage service industry employees and their families in need due to the direct impact of a COVID-19 diagnosis.

“As a food company, we are committed to help those most in need during these extreme circumstances,” says John Pauley, chief commercial officer at Smithfield Foods. “Restaurants are the backbone of feeding America and right now they need our support more than ever.”
