Golden Corral, the nation’s largest grill buffet chain, continues to grow its American brand by looking out for new territories and markets. Golden Corral has identified Des Moines, Iowa as the new home for another franchise in the Midwest. The next step in the company’s business model is to choose a seasoned entrepreneur to lead Golden Corral’s franchise expansion efforts in Des Moines.

Recently, Golden Corral has experienced dynamic growth out west, including opening 14 new locations in California since 2012 as part of the brand’s very own California Gold Rush. The Des Moines Golden Corral will be the third location in Iowa and is expected to follow the success of the restaurants in Davenport and Council Bluffs.

“We are thrilled to bring a new Golden Corral to the Des Moines community, and we look forward to treating our new neighbors to our wide variety of top quality, home-style foods,” says Van Ingram, Vice President of Franchise Development for Golden Corral. “As the largest city in Iowa and a true travel destination, Des Moines is a perfect fit for our franchise model. The ideal franchisees for Des Moines are seasoned businesspeople with experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry who want to expand their portfolio and maximize their investment in the restaurant business.”

The Des Moines expansion comes as the Golden Corral brand looks to the future, revitalizing its brand and attracting new customers and franchise prospects with forward-thinking business ideas such as:

  • New Prototype Building – The Gateway is a comprehensive restaurant design that includes upgraded buffet areas and dining rooms with stone fireplaces, larger windows for increased light and an efficient layout that reduced the overall footprint.
  • GC On The Go — The company has seen a steadily growing response to its new online ordering and delivery service. GC On The Go meets increasing consumer demand for the convenience of  meals without the hassle of cooking.
  • “The Only One for Everyone” Ad Campaign — This is a critical part of Golden Corral’s 2019 national TV and digital ad spend to raise brand awareness/preference for all operators. “The Only One for Everyone” campaign focuses on the humanity found within the brand’s DNA – a place for food and fellowship where anyone can enjoy a meal together at a reasonable price.

Golden Corral, based in Raleigh, N.C., is a grill-buffet restaurant chain with 491 restaurants operating in 41 states as of August 2019.
