Bush’s Best Foodservice announced the Erie SeaWolves, the Detroit Tigers Double-A affiliate, as the 2018 Home Run Recipes Contest Champion for the second year in a row. Erie won the contest with “The Fiesta Burger” which features Bush’s Best Black Beans, pepper jack cheese, bacon, guacamole, salsa and French’s Fried Onions.

“MiLB is known for extravagant promotions to attract new fans and this challenge encourages chefs to turn their entire concession stand into one dish,” says Kari Steele, sports/entertainment reporter and ballpark food expert. “The competition included every baseball superfan’s fantasy meal from deep-fried pulled pork and beans to a baked bean ice cream sundae.”

As a presenting sponsor of the Home Run Recipes Contest (formerly Food Fight), Bush’s Best Foodservice searched ballparks across the country for fun and creative recipe ideas. Fifty-two outstanding recipes were submitted. Erie will receive a custom award presented by Bush’s Best spokes-dog, Duke and The Fiesta Burger will be featured in Bush’s Best 2019 MiLB recipe book and on the Bush’s Best Foodservice website.

Duke’s Choice Award, as voted on by Bush’s employees, was given to the Tennessee Smokies for their “Bush’s Best Burger”, an 8 oz. charbroiled burger topped with creamy coleslaw and Bush’s Best Texas Ranchero Beans.

“Bush’s Best are the official beans of Minor League Baseball and we want to congratulate the Erie SeaWolves and the Tennessee Smokies as the winners of the 2018 Home Run Recipes Contest,” says Ben Carpenter, foodservice marketing manager for Bush’s Best Foodservice. “This contest is a great way to highlight two great American traditions – Bush’s Best Beans and baseball – coming together.”

Additionally, in a fan-focused sweepstakes, one lucky fan was randomly selected from the voting pool to attend a game at the winning ballpark to try the Home Run Recipe and participate in the on-field award ceremony.
