This week Food Service Equipment Reports announced their 2018 winners in the Smallwares & Tabletop Competition. FLAT Equalizers were among the new products that earned top honors in the competition, which is designed to showcase the foodservice industry’s newest and most innovative products.

The announcement was made at FER’s event, held at the Boetler SuperStore’s Event Test Kitchen in Chicago on August 15.  A group of five judges, which included specialists in smallwares and tabletop products from three major E&S dealerships and two foodservice operators, gave top honors to five smallwares entries from a field of 17 finalists, and seven tabletop entries from a field of 47 finalists.  A total of 89 items were entered in the competition, with 64 making it to the final round of judging.

Judges were given a very specific set of criterion with which to consider each finalist. The smallwares product category included entries in handheld, non-electric (battery operated are permitted), and kitchen tools that are designed and marketed specifically to the commercial foodservice industry. The products must be new to the market, and were judged on their uniqueness and innovation in their category.

A full listing of winners will be published in the October 2018 issue of the FER magazine.

FLAT Equalizers continue to be a leading product to bring peace of mind to foodservice operators concerned with their diners’ experience. Equalizers are a retrofit solution to existing wobbly tables. Simply remove the existing screw-on feet and replace with a set of FLAT Equalizers. Then gently push down on the tabletop to level and lock the new feet in position. These patented feet also provide a perfect solution to misalignment when tables are pushed together for larger parties. Just lift up, or push down, on one of the tables for alignment and the feet will lock into place—helping to align the table surface.
