Black Bear Diner, a fast-growing, family dining concept that offers a one-of-a-kind experience and home-style comfort food classics in a friendly, bear-themed atmosphere, announced it will officially open its doors in Midwest City on December 18. The new restaurant—the first in Oklahoma—is located at 5661 Tinker Diagonal, just off of Interstate 40 and north of Sooner Park.
The diner is set to host a ribbon cutting event that morning at 11:30 a.m., where they will unveil three of its signature, hand-carved bear sculptures, the designs of each are reflective of the local community. At 5,400 square feet, the new 150-seat diner will have a significant impact on Midwest City by creating approximately 65 new jobs for local residents.
“We are very excited to not only open our first diner in Midwest City, but introduce the entire Sooner State to Black Bear Diner, as well,” says Black Bear Diner Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Dean. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to take this next step in our eastward expansion, and we look forward to bringing home-styled comfort classics – and our trademarks bears – to the residents and visitors of Midwest City.”
Founded in 1995, Black Bear Diner is well known for offering a vast menu with a focus on hearty portions and excellent value. In addition to serving such comfort food classics as “The Grizz!” breakfast combo—which includes two sweet cream pancakes, three eggs, two slices of thick-cut bacon, two sausage links and a ham steak, served with a choice of potato—each Black Bear Diner restaurant proudly displays multiple handmade bear carvings unique to each location; the featured bear at the Midwest City restaurant will be a fighter pilot, complete with fighter jet, plus two additional bears in military uniforms, a nod to nearby Tinker Air Force Base. Additionally, the Midwest location features wood and stone accents in its architectural design, giving the restaurant a rustic and homey atmosphere.
