Umami Burger, the world-renowned premium burger concept, is introducing its famed ‘Impossible Burger’ to its Chicago locations in partnership with Impossible Foods. The plant-based burger designed for meat lovers that the LA times vowed “tastes and bleeds like meat” can now be found on menus at both Wicker Park and West Loop. Priced at $16, Umami’s Impossible Burger is served with two patties, caramelized onions, American cheese, miso-mustard, house spread, dill pickles, lettuce, and tomato.

Constantly striving to disrupt the market through innovative design and culinary offerings, Umami partnered with Impossible Foods in May to bring the revolutionary burger to its Southern California locations, quickly expanding to Northern California in July. Since then, over 65,000 Impossible Burgers have been consumed across 14 Umami locations. Now, with Impossible Foods’ Oakland facility fully ramped up, Umami is excited to add the meatless phenomenon to menus across the entire Umami platform.

“Umami Burger has created one of the most innovative and craveable social dining experiences in partnership with Impossible Foods,” We’ve seen an incredible response in both Los Angeles and San Francisco and are thrilled to build on this partnership’s momentum by bringing it to Umami in Chicago and New York,”

The Impossible Burger is the world’s only burger that looks, handles, smells, cooks, and tastes like ground beef from cows but is made entirely from plants, with a much smaller environmental footprint than meat from animals. Using roughly 75 percent less water, generating about 87 percent fewer greenhouse gases and requiring around 95 percent less land than conventional ground beef from cows, the Impossible Burger is produced without hormones, antibiotics, cholesterol, or artificial flavors. The meatless burger contains only renewable ingredients, including protein from wheat and potato, coconut oil, and heme, an iron-containing compound.

The launch of the Impossible Burger in Chicago comes on the heels of the brand’s unveiling of its patio extension at Umami West Loop. The new patio features an eye-catching, repurposed shipping container as its full service bar and custom artwork from Chicago favorite JC Rivera. His latest ‘Bear the Champ’ creation is Umami-inspired and uniquely designed for the outdoor space.
