On June 28, Chuy’s restaurant representatives gathered at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in support of a great cause. To recognize their 35th anniversary, Chuy’s an Austin original Tex-Mex restaurant, presented St. Jude with a $125,000 donation raised by loving loyal customers and employees around the country.

In the spirit of giving back, Chuy’s launched their first ever company-wide fundraiser in support of a single benefitting organization—St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Chuy’s kicked-off the fund raising efforts by donating $10,000 of the $35,000 goal and enlisted patrons across all 82 restaurant locations to donate $1 or more at checkout. In an outpour of support during Chuy’s April month-long anniversary, over 100,000 customers helped to raise a grand total of $125,000 to honor St. Jude patients and their families.

“We were thrilled to meet our goal of donating over $35,000 in honor of our 35th Anniversary.  Our employees and customers are some of the most giving people in our industry, and their commitment helped us shatter that original goal, raising over $125,000 for St. Jude,” says Ashley Ingle, vice president, marketing for Chuy’s.

Chuy’s first opened their doors in April of 1982 in Austin, Texas. Their mission from day one is to serve authentic, made-from-scratch cuisine and to give back in the communities they do business in. Over the last 35 years, Chuy’s has partnered with Operation Blue Santa for their annual Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade and toy drive in Downtown Austin, Texas and with dozens of smaller, local charities across the U.S. where their restaurants operate.

Since St. Jude opened more than 50 years ago, treatments invented have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 to 80 percent. St. Jude is fiercely working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and will not stop until no child dies from cancer. By donating a dollar at a time, customers helped ensure no family will ever receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
