Communities across the country are invited to help raise funds to combat childhood cancer this month by stopping by Firebirds Wood Fired Grill for a glass of its refreshing, hand-squeezed lemonade. Firebirds will sell the lemonade Friday, June 9 to Saturday, June 10, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, June 11, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., for $3 per cup. All proceeds will go to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Firebirds will also donate $1 per slice of Big Daddy Lemon Cake sold in all Firebirds restaurants June 111 and introduce “Round Up for a Cure,” where guests can round their checks up to the nearest dollar as an additional donation to ALSF.

This is Firebirds’ fourth consecutive year participating in ALSF’s annual fundraiser Alex’s Lemonade Days (ALD), which encourages communities to host lemonade stands to raise funds for childhood cancer research. After raising more than $90K during last year’s three-day fundraiser, Firebirds has set a goal of $100K this year.

“I’m blessed every day to have amazing help from our long-time supporters like Firebirds,” says Liz Scott, ALSF’s co-executive director and Alex’s mom. “With their help, our foundation has been able to fund more than 690 research projects at leading hospitals and institutions across North America. We are moving closer to achieving my daughter Alex’s dream with every dollar raised—curing every child of cancer.”

This marks year 13 since founder Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996—2004) issued a challenge for volunteers to help raise $1 million for a childhood cancer cure—one cup of lemonade at a time. Firebirds regularly helps raise funds for ALSF by donating $1.25 per glass of lemonade sold year-round at its restaurants. Thanks to the help of its guests, more than $800,000 since 2012 has been donated to ALSF. Firebirds has made it even easier for its guests to donate this year by adding Square Payment technology to the lemonade stands, allowing guests to swipe their cards and grab a glass of lemonade on their way.

“Words can’t express what a true privilege it is to be serving in honor of Alex,” says CEO Mark Eason. “We encourage the Firebirds communities to share glasses of Alex’s lemonade and help get us a step closer to curing childhood cancer.”
