The Elements of Summer

This season, The Terrace, which seats 200, features a new menu from Chef de Cuisine Devin Kreller that centers around the Greek philosophy of five elements. The city breezes showcase air, the fire pits that warm cool summer nights represent fire, the breathtaking views of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan evoke water, the newly planted garden conjures earth and the favorite dishes of chef pay homage to the fifth element, quintessence.

Highlights of the elemental menu include Watermelon Salad with basil, shiso, sea salad, chili lime zest, house-made labneh, candied pistachios and pickled watermelon rind; Vietnamese Papaya Salad with house cured hanger steak jerky, chilies, Szechuan and peppercorns; Sliders with six year aged cheddar; Cedar Plank Salmon garnished with shaved vegetable salad and a lemon, dill whole grain mustard vinaigrette.

For the truly indulgent, The Benjamin Burger features a foie gras-stuffed Wagyu beef patty topped with tomato jam, 10 year aged cheddar, truffle and port wine aioli, smoked Nueske’s bacon and a bun plated with gold leaf. The Benjamin Burger costs $100 and is accompanied by the Fat Elvis Sundae, a decadent mountain to satisfy any sweet tooth that features vanilla ice cream, peanut butter, banana, chocolate, bacon and a pretzel rod dusted with gold leaf fit for The King.
