Owner Patrick O’Cain announced that he and his team will be opening Gan Shan West, an extension of his East-Asian inspired restaurant, in West Asheville, North Carolina, in summer 2017. Located at 285 Haywood Rd., the 900 square foot Gan Shan West will have seating for 25 during meal service. A take-out window will deliver immediate service to patrons on-the-go and to those who call-in.
Born and raised in North Asheville, O’Cain continues to draw inspiration from the WNC region and a cookbook his family used during his childhood, Mrs. Chiang’s Szechwan Cookbook. The menu at Gan Shan West will offer many of the classics that Gan Shan Station’s diners have grown to know and love, including house made dumplings, ramen and other noodles, and fresh takes on Asian dishes rooted in locally sourced ingredients from the area’s finest purveyors. Gan Shan West plans to serve lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Gan Shan Station serves innovative cuisine inspired by the East Asian cultures of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, China, Japan, Singapore, and more. Chef and Owner Patrick O’Cain offers locally sourced ingredients to interpret bold, rich, clean flavors and dishes in an approachable, casual neighborhood setting. His blend of global inspiration and childhood roots pair comfortably with the renovated antique gas station. Lunch and dinner menus served Monday through Saturday, feature creative interpretations of pan-Asian foods including, dumplings and noodles.
