American seafood restaurant The Grilled Oyster Company is focused on hearty seafood options on its new winter menus, now available at its two locations in Potomac, Maryland, and Cathedral Commons in Northwest Washington, D.C. Guests in Cathedral Commons can also enjoy an indulgent new bar menu, complete with sharable small plates and satisfying meals to pair with a craft beer or cocktail.

Executive Chef Steve Mason spotlights rich preparations on the winter menu, with fish and shellfish front and center. Seafood lovers can now dig into warming appetizers including crab mac and cheese packed with jumbo lump crab, tomato, and Old Bay; and a half dozen Maryland spiced shrimp, freshly steamed and ready for peeling. Combine the half dozen shrimp with The Grilled Oyster Company’s half dozen raw oysters for a raw bar duo.

New entrée plates feature four specials from Chef Mason, including oyster stew with bacon, corn, vermouth, and cornbread croutons; pan-seared duck with butternut squash puree and duck jus; sautéed monkfish with shaved Brussels sprouts and lobster cappuccino cream; and a 12 oz. ribeye with caramelized onions and mac and cheese. Other generous entrées include spicy shrimp linguine with lemon beurre blanc and cornmeal-fried Chesapeake catfish smothered with shrimp etouffee over basmati rice.

In an exciting addition at The Grilled Oyster Company—Cathedral Commons, a new bar menu introduces crave-worthy specials and shareable plates to enjoy casually or make a meal of. Must-try specials include the “Hey Steve” burger, which piles a fried ‘patty’ of Chef Mason’s favorite mac and cheese onto a burger with lettuce, tomato, and Tabasco mayonnaise; bone marrow served with bacon onion marmalade and garlic toast; and a crispy pork cheek tostada heaped with tangy banana peppers and cilantro with a spicy crema drizzle. The bar menu is 20 percent off during happy hour at The Grilled Oyster Company, which runs from 3 p.m. through 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and again nightly from 9:30 p.m. until the restaurant’s close.
