The Egg & I Restaurants announce the opening of its 51st restaurant on Monday, January 30th, in the Northcross Shopping Center located on the southwest corner of Anderson Lane and Burnet Road in Austin, Texas.

This is the first The Egg & I Restaurant opening in Austin by well-known Texas businessman Mac Haik.

On January 29th, the restaurant will donate 100% of all proceeds from its private, pre-opening training day to the Austin Humane Society, whose goal is to educate the community about responsible pet ownership and to operate the largest non-profit pet adoption center in Austin.

“We are excited to partner with this newest The Egg & I Restaurant in Austin and are grateful for their support,” says Lisa Starr, Public Relations Manager for the Austin Humane Society.

In conjunction with this pre-opening fundraiser, The Egg & I Restaurant of Austin will also donate all net proceeds from sales of its custom-designed pet bandanas to the Austin Humane Society.

On opening day, January 30th, The Egg & I Restaurant of Austin will be giving its first 144 guests arriving before 9 a.m. a free $20 gift card.

“We’ve heard some people plan to camp out the night before in order to be among the first twelve dozen guests through the doors when we open at 6 a.m. Everyone is very excited about this event and about our new restaurant opening. We can’t wait to be a member of this incredible community, and we already feel very welcome,” says Jimmy Howard, General Manager.

“We are also pleased to be creating 40 new jobs in the Austin area.”

Mr. Haik has been involved with The Egg & I Restaurant concept since March 2007.

He is one of the owners of E&I Restaurants, Inc. which currently owns eight The Egg & I Restaurants in Colorado and through one of its subsidiaries, franchises The Egg & I Restaurants throughout the U.S.

Mr. Haik also owns five The Egg & I Restaurants in San Antonio, Texas; one in Tyler, Texas; one in Houston, Texas; and two locations in Alabama.

Additionally, he has development rights for the concept for most of Texas as well as several other states.

The Austin-based The Egg & I Restaurant is the first The Egg & I Restaurant in the Austin market and the fifteenth in Texas.

“The opening of the 51st location is a significant accomplishment for all of us at The Egg & I Restaurants. I want to thank our entire team for their dedication and tireless efforts to ensure we deliver an exceptional dining experience to every guest, every day in every restaurant,” comments Haik.

“In this very difficult economic environment, we are very pleased to be able to continue opening new restaurants and bringing our award-winning breakfast and lunch entrees to new communities around the State of Texas.”

The Egg & I Restaurants, headquartered in Lone Tree, CO, opened its first restaurant in Ft. Collins, CO in 1987. With Austin’s opening there will be 51 company and franchise restaurants operating in 10 states throughout the U.S.
