Wisconsin-based BelGioioso Cheese won six medals at the World Cheese Awards contest held Nov. 23, 2011, in the U.K.

Three awards recognized the entire line of BelGioioso Gorgonzola cheeses. Its exceptional signature blue-veined cheese, BelGioioso CreamyGorg, received a silver medal; Crumbly Gorgonzola, a bronze medal; and the newest addition, Crumbly Gorgonzola with Sheep’s Milk, received a silver medal for its rich, creamy flavor,.

Starting with fresh, local Wisconsin milk, these Italian specialty Gorgonzola cheeses are handcrafted by BelGioioso Master Cheesemakers and carefully aged, creating an exceptional full flavor and creamy texture.

The cheeses' flavors are distinct and their textures are versatile – perfect for many culinary applications.

BelGioioso CreamyGorg adds a creamy richness to wood-fired pizzas topped with cipolline onions or combine with Mascarpone and heavy cream to create a tasty sauce for pasta, grilled beef, chicken, or shrimp. Melt thin slices onto meatball sliders or simply serve a cut as part of a cheese plate paired with fresh pears and bread for dessert.

In addition to the three Gorgonzola awards, BelGioioso received a silver medal for its fresh and creamy Burrata, a bronze for classic Mascarpone, and a bronze for Whole Milk Ricotta con Latte.
