Long Island Spirits, Inc. announced today that LiV Vodka bested over 44 different Vodka's from around the world to capture the highest award that was presented in the Vodka category, the Gold Medal in the 2011 New York International Spirits Competition.

The exclusive competition was held at 3 West Club on October 16th to taste, evaluate, and judge over 300 of the world's best-distilled spirits – a 65% increase from last year’s submissions.

Over 30 countries submitted their brands to be critiqued by a hand-selected panel of A-List and key trade only judges – buyers, retail storeowners, restaurant/bar proprietors, distributors, and importers – those that have the unique ability to make a direct impact on sales.

"This is a huge well deserved win for LiV Vodka and one that these quality focused artisan distillers should be very proud of,” says Adam Levy, Founder of NYISC.

“Other renowned competitions prize up to 85% of entrants with awards, the discerning panel and ethos of the NYISC is to honor the brands that are most deserving among their peers. This year, NYISC prized only 40% of its entrants. The Judges awarded a total of only 1 Double Gold Medal,14 Gold Medals, 46 Silver Medals, and 61 Bronze Medals in each of the many different categories of spirits that ranged from Armagnac to Whiskey from the 300+ different spirits submitted.”

LiV Vodka’s growing popularity coupled with growing recognition from accolades like winning NYSIC Gold Medal Award have helped fuel an expansion throughout Illinois, Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Colorado building upon its successes in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC.

“Artisanal brands are the fastest most exciting growth segment in the spirits market, so it has been a source of hometown pride to have one of the nation’s premier distilleries located in our own backyard,” says Scott Tallon, Spirits Director for Winebow.

“Winning this extremely prestigious Gold Medal is further confirmation that LiV Vodka has emerged as the real stand out Vodka in a crowded market for its superior taste and quality.”

“It is incredibly gratifying to win the Gold Medal in the NYISC which is a true blind taste test competition against many of the world’s most renowned Ultra Premium Vodka’s,” says Richard Stabile President of Long Island Spirits.

“LiV has quietly been building a stealthy following nationally and we are delighted to have achieved this top Award by the NYISC to further showcase our commitment to distilling excellence during our expansion into new markets.”
