Schedulefly, a company started in 2007 that provides web-based restaurant staff scheduling software for independent restaurants, now has over 3,000 restaurant customers.

"Six years after our first customer came on board, we are excited that so many restaurants are now enjoying using Schedulefly," says Wil Brawley, a partner at the company.

Brawley said Schedulefly has no sales people, and that growth has been driven by providing a free 30-day trial, having a simple pricing model, offering a very easy-to-use solution to the frustrating problem of restaurant employee scheduling and communication, giving fanatical customer support, and creating brand awareness through the company's Restaurant Owners uncorked book and video series.

"Staff scheduling and communication used to be an absolute pain around here," says Matt Frey, owner of Bub's Burgers & Ice Cream in Carmel, Indiana. "Schedulefly made it a breeze."

Schedulefly is focused on serving independent restaurants, and has established itself as a leader in its niche. The company looks to continue to grow with a small team by focusing on its core competencies. "We have five people at Schedulefly, and because we've focused on keeping our application simple, we don't need a giant group of people to service it. We prefer to keep our crew small and continue focusing on what we do really well: make life easier at independent restaurants," says Brawley.
