The signature dessert, originally known as the “Parker House Chocolate Cream Pie,” was a culinary creation of Boston’s Omni Parker House in the 1850s by Armenian-French chef M. Sanzian. Today, the two-layer golden cake filled with sweet pastry cream and frosted with chocolate glaze remains a crowd favorite as the official dessert of Massachusetts.
