As part of its mission to continue growing its reach and presence in the casual dining segment, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina announced the addition of Monte Batson as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. The seasoned casual dining executive brings more than 25 years of proven operations expertise to the brand’s multiple growth objectives.

Batson, most recently Regional Vice President of Operations with Bloomin’ Brands, will work toward continuing to elevate On The Border’s current operations organization. His restaurant industry experience, working with names such as Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's Italian Grill, and Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, will further assist in achieving overall business goals for the company in the years to come.

“Mr. Batson has proven his expertise in the industry and his commitment to putting in the necessary work and dedication to accomplish his and the brands goals,” says Ward Whitworth, president and CEO of On The Border. “We’re very pleased to be adding such an industry expert to our leadership team.”

In an operations capacity, Batson holds experience in overseeing nearly 100 restaurants, while managing new openings and relocations. He was also instrumental in human relations and training activities, specializing in performance metrics. With a focus on new restaurants, organic growth, and company sales and traffic, Batson will play a vital role in ensuring a quality guest experience across all On The Border locations.

“I am honored to be joining such a skilled and motivated team,” Batson says. “Joining at a time that is already preceded with great operations, I will have the ideal foundation to focus on our best-possible opportunities for growth and expansion.”
