Following the 18th Annual Southern Brewers Festival, CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries presented its largest donation to date to the event’s partner, Chattanooga’s Kids on the Block (CKOB). The proceeds from this year’s event resulted in a $173,000 donation to the organization, which was presented in Chattanooga on December 12th.

This was the seventh consecutive year that all proceeds from the festival benefited CKOB. Since the partnership’s inception, CraftWorks Restaurants has presented more than $875,000 in festival proceeds to the organization. CKOB is an award-winning educational program that uses life-sized puppets to help children cope with various disabilities, social concerns, and educational and medical differences.

“This year’s Southern Brewers Festival raised a greater amount for CKOB than in any previous festival,” says Allen Corey, president and CEO of CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries. “We are proud of our company’s philantrophic efforts in our communities and the differences they make in the lives of others.”

More than 11,000 attendees enjoyed the festival, which was held August 25th in downtown Chattanooga and featured more than 30 of the Southeast’s most notable microbreweries. The 2012 festival added 10 new breweries and showcased over 75 premium, handcrafted ales and lagers. The Drive-By Truckers headlined the entertainment lineup along with other national and regional musical acts.

“We appreciate the dedication that CraftWorks Restaurants has provided during the seven years of partnering for the Southern Brewers Festival,” says Kelly Williams, CKOB’s executive director. “This donation helps increase the effectiveness of our programming and the positive impact it has on our community.”
