John Howie, a man known as much for his spirit of generosity as his award winning fare, shares recipes from his restaurants and for life in his new book, to be released on November 30th.

Passion and Palate: Recipes for a Generous Table reflects a collection of over 240 recipes and numerous stories gathered over Howie’s lifetime.

This gorgeously photographed, hardbound book, printed on fine-quality coated stock, includes guest and family favorites from Seastar Restaurant and Raw Bar, John Howie Steak, SPORT Restaurant & Bar, and Adriatic Grill Italian Cuisine & Wine Bar.

Each recipe was tested numerous times by a dedicated team of over 300 volunteer home cooks and food enthusiasts to make sure that all were kitchen friendly at any level of expertise.

Testers gave a wholehearted response to the many cooking tips that John offers within the book’s pages as well as the wine pairing suggestions by Howie’s close friend and Walter Clore award winning sommelier, Company Wine Director Erik Liedholm. His recommendations include those for a “life is too short” pick as well as a “just because it’s inexpensive, doesn’t mean you’re cheap” bottle.

World Series-winning All-Star Pitcher, former Seattle Mariner and Howie restaurant patron Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen share these thoughts:

“What a great cookbook for every kitchen! Flavors and tastes for everyone. John is a talented, gifted chef whose work we have had the privilege of experiencing in our home, as well as in his wonderful restaurants. Now that he shares his recipes in Passion & Palate, we can carry on with delicious food no matter where we are.”

Those thumbing through the pages are bound to get caught up in tales of Howie’s childhood, his reflections on community giving and the stunning shots of his dishes.

His bigheartedness is mirrored in his “never say no” philosophy of contributing, and over the years John has quietly provided hundreds of thousands of dollars of in-kind donations, generating several million dollars of charitable giving.

He has orchestrated hundreds of philanthropic events such as his recent “Stone Soup” food drive for Food Lifeline and an annual Thanksgiving Day dinner that feeds an average of 500 needy at a sit-down meal fully staffed by volunteers.

John will be doing a book signing on Wednesday, November 30th from 2 – 6 pm at Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar in Bellevue.

He also will be appearing at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Seattle from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, December 3rd selling and signing books.

Passion and Palate: Recipes for a Generous Table is priced at $42 and will be available for purchase at all of John Howie restaurants as well as on their on-line websites (www.adriaticgrill.com, www.seastarrestaurant.com, www.sportrestaurant.com and www.johnhowiesteak.com).
