Margaret River Gourmet Escape announced the international lineup for its fifth annual festival inWestern Australia’s Margaret River region from November 18—20. Presented by Audi, this year’s event boasts an unparalleled group of culinary stars, including—for the first time in the festival’s history—a U.S.-based chef, Dominique Crenn, whose San Francisco restaurants include Atelier Crenn and Petit Crenn.

“Margaret River Gourmet Escape, and the Margaret River region, have been on my bucket list to visit and I am so excited that this year I will be there to see and explore this beautiful region for myself,” Crenn says. “Discovering its produce and people will be at the forefront of my trip, and I can’t wait.”

The lineup includes more than 40 leading food and wine personalities from across the globe, including U.K. headliner and “Queen of the Kitchen” Nigella Lawson (journalist, broadcaster, TV personality, cookbook writer), Joan Roca (World’s 50 Best Restaurant, No.2 El Celler de Can Roca, Spain), Mauro Colagreco (No. 6 Mirazur, France), Andoni Luis Aduriz (No. 7 Mugaritz, Spain), David Thompson (No. 37 Nahm, Thailand; Long Chim, Perth), and Ana Roš (Hiša Franko, Slovenia), who joined Crenn in season two of the highly-acclaimed Netflix documentary series Chef’s Table.

At the heart of the event is the Gourmet Village, where all of the celebrated culinary personalities gather to give cooking demonstrations, lead wine tastings, and participate in intimate panel discussions about hot topics in today’s culinary landscape. Over one extraordinary weekend, festival-goers can indulge in delicious food and world-class wines in the Village, or participate in exclusive dinners set in picturesque wineries, open fire-cooked feasts in the karri forest; and beach BBQs.

Along with this year’s talent comes the addition of new and exciting events, including incredible once in a lifetime dining experiences and chef collaborations with local, national and international chefs, each presenting their signature cuisines in unique locations and wineries across the region. New events include:

  • Quay to the Celler at Cullens Wines with world-renowned chefs Joan Roca and Peter Gilmore (Quay, Sydney)
  • A Wise Taste of Italy with Mitch Orr (ACME & Bar Brose, Sydney), Riccardo Camanini (Lido 84, Italy) and Heath Townsend (Wise Winery, Margaret River)
  • An Audience with Nigella at Voyager Estate – Q&A with Nigella Lawson plus canapes and delicious wines
  • Crenn Collaboration at Wills Domain with Dominique Crenn and rising star Seth James (Wills Domain, Margaret River)
  • Dining by Twilight at Margaret River’s Secret Garden with Andoni Luis Aduriz and George Cooper (Foodbythechef, Margaret River)

Located in Australia’s South West, Margaret River produces over 25 percent of Australia’s premium wine, boasting more than 220 wineries and over 100 cellar doors. The region is home to multiple micro-breweries, distilleries, and cideries, as well as unique specialty produce such as black truffles, black apples, marron, and finger limes (caviar-like beads that burst in the mouth.) With tall-timber forests, cave systems, and pristine beaches, there’s no other wine region in the world that compares to Margaret River.
