The Shaw Bijou will open later this year, offering a globally inspired multi-course tasting menu from 25-year-old chef and co-owner Kwame Onwuachi.

Open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner, guests will experience kitchen tours and interactive tableside preparation and plating.

Diners can also expect a dry-aged Wagyu program, house-made charcuterie and unique beverage pairings from general manager and fellow Culinary Institute of America and Eleven Madison Park alum Greg Vakiner.

The concept will tell a story of Chef Onwuachi’s youth in Nigeria, his time helping cook for his mother’s catering company in the Bronx, and his travels.

Named for its location in the revitalized Shaw area of Washington, D.C., and Chef Onwuachi’s mom, The Shaw Bijou will be located in the former residence of co-owner and salon mogul Kelly Gorsuch who realized the building’s potential and moved out when he and longtime friend Glenn Paik saw an opportunity to transform it into a restaurant.

Inside, The Shaw Bijou will feature walls of exposed brick and architectural details original to the building blending seamlessly with handcrafted pieces by woodworker Caleb Woodard, including free-form dishes, custom tables with sloping serpentine bases, massive 8-foot tall doors at the entrance and a one-of-a-kind bar for the upstairs private lounge.

The second-floor members-only bar area will have 50 seats and serve vintage and rare liquors collected from across the globe.
