The T.J. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research will celebrate its 4th Annual Los Angeles Family Day to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles October 28 at the CBS Studios Backlot from noon to 4 p.m. Family Day is one of the most popular events held by the charitable organization, and has grown since its inception in New York in 1998. The event has raised more than $4 million to date. Kevin Weaver, EVP at Atlantic Records Group, serves as Family Day L.A.’s event chair.

This year, as in past years, the TJ Martell Foundation will acknowledge the valuable efforts of entertainment industry professionals who have made a difference through their philanthropic endeavors and support of cancer research. The 2012 Humanitarian Awards recipients include Robert Earl, chairman and CEO of Planet Hollywood International and PJ Bloom, music supervisor behind the hit “Glee” franchise and an award-winning music publisher. Past honorees and guests have included Jay-Z, Jordin Sparks, Train, Nick Cannon, Cody Simpson, Mark McGrath, James Gandolfini and many others.

Hundreds of families and guests attend Family Day each year where children can enjoy an afternoon of fun and games, great food and celebrity performers. Entertainment industry parents have the opportunity to enjoy the rare chance to mix business with pleasure in a fun, vibrant setting. Robert Earl is a leading figure in hospitality, food, and beverage industries. He is the founder & CEO of Planet Hollywood International, Inc. and chairman of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. A lifetime entrepreneur, Earl founded President Entertainment in 1977, a company specializing in theme restaurants later valued at over $100 million. He oversaw the acquisition and expansion of the Hard Rock Café franchise and also oversaw tremendous growth of brands such as Café Rouge, Dome, and Mamma Amalfi, which he later sold to Whitebread PLC. In 1991 he founded Planet Hollywood, which achieved global acclaim in only a few short years by combining celebrity endorsements, lavish grand openings, and a fully integrated dining experience. In 2003 Earl announced a partnership with Lord Sandwich, the 11th Earl of Sandwich, to launch Earl of Sandwich shops in the United States. Earl expanded on the Earl of Sandwich brand by opening a high-energy food court, Earl’s Court, in New York City’s Financial District. He also purchased the Aladdin Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip (now the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino). In 2006, Earl became a partner of an English Premier League soccer club. PJ Bloom is one of the top Music Supervisors in the entertainment industry. He has created and produced soundtracks for more than fifty films, hundreds of television episodes, video games, advertisements, and even amusement park thrill rides. Bloom’s collaborators include Ryan Murphy, Steven Spielberg, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ridley Scott, and Mike Nichols. His career soundtrack sales tally nearly 50 million singles and 13 million albums worldwide. As the music supervisor for the entire “Glee” franchise, Bloom’s work holds the record for the most charted songs by a single act in Billboard Hot 100 chart history surpassing Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and James Brown. He is also an award-winning independent music publisher. In 2009 Bloom signed hip-hop act Far East Movement whose No. 1 single “Like A G6” and No. 7 single “Rocketeer” have sold over 11 million units worldwide. In 2012, Bloom placed No. 80 on Billboard Magazine’s annual Power 100 List and was named Music Supervisor of the Year by the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM). He is a two-time BMI Pop Award winner, two-time BMI Urban Award Winner, two-time ASCAP Pop Award Winner and has received a host of other awards and accolades. Bloom is also a founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors (GMS).
