Lazy Dog, an emerging leader in the Southern California casual dining scene, is launching a new “Nutritious & Delicious” menu with low-calorie options that aren’t skinny on flavor. The menu will be available at all Lazy Dog locations June 7, and will be joined by the new Gluten Free menu, which offers modified versions of Lazy Dog classics for diners with gluten sensitivities.

Every item on the “Nutritious & Delicious” menu, from the Roasted Tomatillo Chicken Enchilada to the Pork & Chile Verde Crisp, is 650 calories or fewer, offering a healthier option for diners looking to lighten up for the summer season.

With the debut of the “Nutritious & Delicious” menu, Lazy Dog is answering the call for more health-conscious fare in both Southern California and the nation as a whole. The menu features a wide variety of dishes, including eclectic salads, scrumptious sandwiches, hearty entrees, and delectable sides that prove that eating well doesn’t necessarily mean skimping on satisfaction or flavor.

“With the ‘Nutritious & Delicious’ menu, I wanted to create dishes that diners might not expect on a low calorie menu like enchiladas and a turkey burger,” says Lazy Dog executive chef Gabriel Caliendo. “It was important to us to provide healthy options that feature the same bold flavors and unique preparations as the rest of the items on the Lazy Dog menu.”

Diners can celebrate the season of salads with the Beefsteak Tomato & Mozzarella Salad with sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, basil, sea salt, and walnut pesto and balsamic vinaigrette; the Chop’t Spinach, Feta, and Chicken with sundried tomatoes, basil, roasted red peppers, carrots, and feta vinaigrette; or the Spicy Thai Chicken Salad with chopped Napa and red cabbage, fresh mint, cilantro, carrots, cucumbers, sweet red bell peppers, and spicy Thai peanut vinaigrette.

Carb-lovers can cure their cravings with the brick-oven-baked lavosh crisps, which include the Jerk Chicken Crisp topped with jerk marinated chicken, tiki sauce, mozzarella cheese, roasted red peppers, cilantro, chile flakes, and green onions; or the Pork & Chile Verde Crisp topped with tender shredded pork, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, cilantro, roasted tomatillo sauce, Tapatio crema, pickled red onions, carrots, and onion. Sandwiches include the Veggie Lavosh Sandwich and Naked Turkey Burger, both of which come served with a choice of the Chilled Broccolini or Japanese Cucumber Salad.

Rounding out the new menu are the Roasted Tomatillo Chicken Enchilada with hand-pulled chicken breast, sautéed onions, and black beans, smothered with a tangy housemade tomatillo sauce; and the pan-roasted Barramundi Fish entrée, featuring black beans, sautéed zucchini, roasted red peppers, and onions, topped off with cilantro pesto, pickled carrots, onions, and oranges.

“At Lazy Dog, we strive to anticipate our guests’ wants and needs at every turn,” says Lazy Dog Owner Chris Simms. “The ‘Nutritious & Delicious’ menu is reflective of a growing appetite for healthier options in the communities we service, and we are excited to provide them with unique and flavorful choices that go beyond a simple lettuce salad.”

Lazy Dog’s commitment to offering options for every guest is further echoed in its new Gluten Free Menu that features a wide range of dishes for diners with gluten sensitivities. From the Grilled Baja Shrimp Tacos served in corn tortillas to the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce to the Hawaiian Fried Rice topped with an egg for brunch, the menu is decked out with an extensive assortment of classic Lazy Dog dishes.

Both menus will be available at all Lazy Dog Southern California locales including, Cerritos, Huntington Beach/Westminster, Irvine, Orange, Temecula, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Valencia/Santa Clarita, West Covina, and the new Rancho Cucamonga location.
