Recent summerlike temperatures have prompted Pastry Chef Chris Kujala to roll out a new seasonal ice cream and sorbet take-out program at the popular West End destination, RIS, in Washington, D.C. Daily selections of ice cream and sorbet have been added to the popular ristogo menu, blending market fresh ingredients, seasonal spices, and the comfortable sophistication for which the neighborhood café is known.

“Everything at RIS is about the season and Scoops are no different,” Kujala says. “In the weeks to come, expect flavors like maple walnut, chocolate peppermint, apple cinnamon, and some surprising additions, like buttered popcorn, [that] truly make you want to curl up on the couch and watch a movie,” Kujala says.  “As the weeks go by, we will add late fall fruit sorbets made with figs or roasted pears.”

Selections will rotate daily, available by the cup ($5), pint ($8), or quart ($15), each packed by hand and stored ready for travel.  Flavors will be announced daily via Twitter, Facebook, and the restaurant’s website, where guests can also find the day’s soups, farmers’ market selections, and more.
