New Les Dames Scholarships in Seattle

Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle Chapter (LDES) established two new endowed scholarship funds at South Seattle Community College (SSCC).

They are Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle, Culinary Arts Endowed Scholarship Fund in Honor of Co-Founder, Dame Kathleen Stang, and Les Dames d’Escoffier, Seattle, Wine Technology—Northwest Wine Academy Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship endowments were funded with two cash gifts of $25,000.

In addition to the $25,000 endowments, LDES is providing two one-time-only, nonendowed cash gifts of $1,000 for scholarships available for the academic year 2011-2012.

LDES named the culinary-arts scholarship fund in honor of Seattle Dame Kathleen Desmond Stang, a well-known Northwest cookbook author and food writer, and one of the three founders of the Seattle Chapter. Stang died on August 9, 2011, in Seattle after an extended illness.
