The National Honey Board (NHB) has extended the menuing deadline for its first-ever Honey Innovation Awards from May 1 to May 15. Food and beverage professionals are invited to submit their original, most innovative, honey-inspired menu items on the NHB’s website. To qualify, the food or beverage items must be featured on the operator's menu for at least one week between Jan. 1 and May 15, 2014. The deadline for completed submissions is June 1.

Two winners each ($1,000 grand prize and $500 runner up) will be selected in the Food and Beverage categories, for a total of four Honey Innovation Awards. Winners will be notified in July, and announced in September 2014.

“We have received some exceptional entries to date, and are extending the menuing deadline to allow more foodservice professionals to participate, as word spreads about the Honey Innovation Awards,” says Catherine Barry, director of marketing for the NHB.

The NHB is an industry-funded agriculture promotion group that works to educate consumers and foodservice professionals about the benefits and uses for honey and honey products through research, marketing, and promotional programs.
