The chain may be converted into another restaurant concept.

Bagger Dave’s, a burger chain created by a Buffalo Wild Wings franchisee, is likely to close permanently.

The chain announced Friday that it’s seeking strategic alternatives for its six operating locations—four in Michigan and two others in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Centerville, Ohio. The plan is apparently to convert the restaurants into another chain.

CEO Gary Copperud said all units are in “excellent locations” and “excellent physical condition.” The stores range from 4,000 to 6,000 square feet and carry full liquor licenses.

“We have had several restaurant professionals look at the locations over the last year, and all agree the units provide an outstanding footprint for a conversion opportunity,” Copperud said in a statement.

Diversified Restaurant Holdings, one of the largest franchisees of Buffalo Wild Wings, founded Bagger Dave’s in 2008. The first location opened in Berkley, Michigan. Over the next several years, the full-service brand grew to 26 restaurants. In late 2015, Diversified Restaurant Holdings announced the closure of eight under-performing units. The following year, the company announced it would spin off Bagger Dave’s into a separate publicly traded entity. More closures followed, and the chain voluntarily delisted in 2018.

BT Brands, Inc., the owner and operator of fast-food restaurant chain Burger Time, Pie In The Sky Coffee and Bakery, Village Bier Garten, and Keegan’s Seafood Grille, acquired a 40 percent interest in Bagger Dave’s in 2022 for $1.26 million.

“The Bagger Dave’s locations will continue normal operations as Bagger Daves, with the process of conversion to another concept expected to begin sometime later this year,” Copperud said. “We look forward to identifying a dynamic growth opportunity, providing potential career growth for all current employees of Bagger Dave’s. We see the opportunity for Bagger Dave’s shareholders, including BT Brands, to earn significant returns from a successful conversion.”
