Iconic New York City eatery Eleven Madison Park can now call itself “The World’s Best Restaurant,” not just North America’s.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards list, organized by William Reed Business Media since 2002, placed Will Guidara and Daniel Humm’s restaurant at the top of the list, saying the duo “enhance the fine-dining experience with a sense of fun, blurring the line between the kitchen and the dining room. Housed in an art deco building overlooking New York’s Madison Park, the restaurant’s multi-course seasonal tasting menu celebrates the city’s rich history and culinary traditions.” The venue was also named The Best Restaurant in North America.
Eleven Madison Park has moved around the top 10 during the last four years, and was No. 3 in 2016. Six U.S. restaurants made the Top 50. They were:

Chef Dan Barber’s Blue Hill at Stone Barns was honored with the Highest Climber Award after rising 37 places.
Overall, the list included nine new restaurants—six making their debut and three returning making reentries. Twenty-two countries and five continents were represented. France and Spain joined the U.S. with six restaurants apiece to lead the way.
Enrique Olvera, who owns Cosme, also had another restaurant, Pujol in Mexico City, crack the list at No. 20.
New York-based pastry entrepreneur Dominique Ansel, the proprietor behind his eponymous SoHO bakery and the Cronut, was named The World’s Best Pastry Chef.
The awards were presented at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, Australia.
