Gothamites looking for a casual rooftop dining and drinking experience now have a new destination at Ali Baba’s Terrace. The Mediterranean restaurant recently renovated its second floor to create an elevated eatery, complete with retractable roof and bar. Framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, patrons can enjoy wrap-around views of the metropolis while sipping on specialty spirits or noshing on something from the restaurant’s newly expanded menu, which includes Happy Hour specials.

Says owner Aliriza Dogan, “I wanted a space in which my customers could escape the hustle and bustle of the city, relax in the sun, and enjoy the flavors of the Mediterranean. With the push of a button, we can retract the ceiling and create an oasis.“

Named after Aliriza “Ali” Dogan and the Turkish word for father, “baba”, the menu at Ali Baba’s Terrace celebrates the flavors of the Mediterranean. Highlights of the father and son team’s new dishes include:

  • Octopus Salad – Chargrilled octopus with green bell pepper, tomato, onion, and lemon vinaigrette
  • Gavuardagi Salad – Chopped tomato, cucumber, walnut, onion, and parsley, drizzled with pomegranate vinaigrette
  • Kibbeh – Turkish-spiced lamb meatballs with pine nuts, encased in a wheat bulgur crust
  • Sac Kavurma – Slow-braised cubed lamb infused with Mediterranean spices, served with homemade lavash bread

The new Happy Hour menu offers craft cocktails for $6, wine by the glass for $5, and beer for $4 each, alongside small plates for $5, from Monday-Friday, 4:00-6:00pm.
