The team behind Yellow Door Taqueria announced that it’s opening a third location in Boston’s thriving Mission Hill neighborhood. Dropkick Murphys’ frontman Ken Casey, along with Taniya Nayak (HGTV, Food Network) and her restauranter husband Brian O’Donnell have teamed up with industry-powerhouses Colleen Hagerty and Jarek Mountain to open another door to the community. The 2,500 sq. ft. restaurant offers 17 bar seats with standing room, 28 seats in its dining room and a private dining room with the capacity to host parties of up to 20 people. The restaurant will join its beloved sister restaurants, located in Boston’s South End and Lower Mills neighborhoods, later this year.

“From opening our first location minutes from where I grew up – to our second in the swanky new Ink Block neighborhood – it’s been awesome watching Yellow Door grow into such cool restaurants that people really love,” says Ken Casey, Co-Owner of Yellow Door Taqueria & Dropkick Murphys’ Lead Vocalist. “Mission Hill is the perfect spot for our new Yellow Door – it combines the welcoming neighborhood feel of our Lower Mills location and the incredible energy of the South End restaurant. I’m so excited to expand our Yellow Door Taqueria brand in Mission Hill and keep giving back to my favorite city in the world.”

The bar program will be centered around craft margaritas and trendsetting libations like the draft cocktail, Waking Up in Tijuana, hand-crafted with reposado tequila, coffee liqueur, housemade cinnamon-infused cold brew, vanilla whipped cream and cayenne for an added kick. With a selection of over 90 varieties of tequila and mezcal, and unique flavors like Cucumber & Pineapple and Lime Leaf & Ginger, Yellow Door Taqueria will continue to offer Boston’s best margaritas with unexpected flavor combinations designed to excite and delight. In addition to the menu’s tried-and-true staples, the new location will feature a proprietary margarita that will pay homage to its Mission Hill neighborhood.

Yellow Door Taqueria’s menu is centered around creative takes on cuisine inspired by Brian and Taniya’s travels throughout Mexico. The restaurant offers its namesake tacos in one-of-a-kind varieties like Chili Duck, Scallop Frito and Jackfruit Carnitas. Additional fan-favorites include the Street Corn Nachos made with crispy corn tortillas, elote, cheddar and cotija cheese, pickled red onions, poblano peppers, fresh avocado and cilantro, as well as coastally inspired Seasonal Ceviche like ahi tuna with watermelon, cucumber, dressed with mango and habanero and served with housemade corn tortilla chips.

“When looking for a place to grow our Yellow Door footprint, we sought out a location that would mirror the charm of our flagship Dorchester restaurant and offer the potential for growth like that of our South End location. This gorgeous space in Mission Hill really hit that sweet spot,” says Colleen Hagerty, Co-Owner, Yellow Door Taqueria. “We fell in love with the neighborhood’s trendy vibe and the old bones of the actual space – filled with stunning natural light and a ton of personality that simply cannot be recreated with modern construction.”

Each of the Yellow Door Taqueria restaurants are designed by Taniya Nayak, one of the nation’s foremost interior designers most notably known as a design expert on HGTV and Food Network, as well as her Boston-based interior design firm, Taniya Nayak Design, Inc. While Mission Hill’s resemblance to its South End and Lower Mills proteges will be undeniable, it will be the first location to inject a coastal-feel reminiscent of Mexico’s beautiful beaches. A custom mural painted by the ever-so-talented Sam Malpass of Bad Way Creative sets the stage for the tropical retreat. It is complemented with colorfully painted walls by local artist Mark Grundig and subtle, yet eye-catching elements throughout the space that evoke mini moments of Mexico’s coastline. Highlights include beautiful wooden beads, a stunning bar top that provides the illusion of drying sand, seashell wall sconces and sea salt distressed metal and wood, are woven into Yellow Door’s grittier, urban decor, offering guests a brief, but memorable respite.

“When the team showed me the spot they were looking at in Mission Hill, I knew from the moment I stepped inside that it had all the right vibes for what we all envisioned the next stage of Yellow Door to be,” said Taniya Nayak, Co-Owner of Yellow Door Taqueria, TV Personality and Owner of Taniya Nayak Design, Inc. “We created a design that really allows the space’s history and soul to come to life, while incorporating beautiful coastally-inspired touches and familiar elements from its sister restaurants in Dorchester and the South End. Yellow Door Mission Hill is truly something special.”

Yellow Door Taqueria remains committed to community with continued plans to immerse the new restaurant in outreach and philanthropy centered around giving back to the Mission Hill neighborhood. Earlier this month the team donated food to the 25th Anniversary of Mission Hill Main Streets’ Taste of Mission Hill event and they look forward to continuing to play a vital role in the neighborhood that they will soon call home.

“Opening this new location in Mission Hill is really a full-circle moment for me,” says Jarek Mountain, Co-Owner, Yellow Door Taqueria. “Not only has Mission Hill been my home for almost a decade, but it is where I worked as a bartender and became a part of the community. I’m pumped to share the Yellow Door experience with my neighbors and have the opportunity to play a part in Mission Hill’s revitalization.”

Opening hours of operation will be Sundays – Thursdays from 4PM – Midnight, and Fridays – Saturdays 4PM – 1AM, with lunch and brunch services soon to follow.
