XEN Lounge, a new restaurant, bar, and lounge now open in Studio City, California, stands out among the emerging vibrant dining scene on Ventura Boulevard with its chic design and innovative menu.
XEN Lounge is a fresh concept by owner Duane Martin, an established actor, writer, and producer who has envisioned a multi-faceted destination featuring an elegant dining experience and cocktail lounge that evolves into a nightlife hotspot. XEN Lounge’s studio neighbors—including NBC-Universal, CBS, Warner Brothers, and ABC—position it as an ideal destination for talent as well as film and television industry professionals to socialize, dine, and unwind. The restaurant’s accessible location along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City is minutes away from Hollywood.
XEN’s chef Neil Shuman helms the kitchen and offers an innovative new-American menu of twists on classic comfort foods. An array of small plates from the dinner menu are perfect for sharing and include mac & cheese cupcakes ($10); and crispy potato shrimp with roasted corn, pineapple, pancetta, and pimento ($16). Signature entrées from the dinner menu include a dry aged 12oz rib eye topped with a generous dollop of bone marrow butter and side of fingerling hash ($32) as well as little neck clams along with mussels and house-made chicken sausage served in a beer broth with corn and potato ($18).
A seasonally driven cocktail program incorporates market ingredients and boutique liquors, including the Crazy Horse with premium vodka, Serrano chili, watermelon, and fresh lime ($12); and the Undertaker with Willett Bourbon, Amaro, Dolin Rouge vermouth, and orange bitters ($12). A California-centric craft beer selection includes North Coast Scrimshaw ($7), Green Flash IPA ($8), and Anderson Valley Boont Amber ($7). XEN Lounge’s wine list—intended for approachability and easy navigation—features both domestic and international labels ranging from Napa Valley to Argentina, which are available by the glass or bottle.
Martin collaborated with celebrity designer Nikki Chu to create a compelling environment through a modern décor accented with whimsical elements. Upon entering XEN’s majestic red doors, guests are transported to an impressive main lounge and bar area featuring oversized silver-clad thrones, stools upholstered in animal hide, and a glass communal table. XEN also offers a VIP dining room with a grand glass table, polka-dot walls, crystal chandeliers, and eccentric adornments. Two patios create alfresco outdoor living rooms/lounges—the main patio hosts a second bar and hideaway cabanas. The back patio, ideal for private parties, features oversized couches and fireplaces accented by vibrant illuminated red umbrellas hanging from the trees. A spiraling staircase leads to a rooftop patio, allowing access to expansive views of the Valley.
XEN Lounge is located at 10628 Ventura Blvd. (between Lankershim Blvd. and Vineland Ave.). XEN Lounge is currently open for dinner from 6 p.m. until midnight, Monday through Saturday, while the lounge stays open until 2 a.m.; Sunday hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. with brunch to follow in the coming weeks.
