Wisconsin once again won more awards for its cheese than any other U.S. state at the prestigious World Cheese Awards, taking home 37 awards—nearly half of the total given to the U.S., including two super gold medals, five golds, 12 silvers, and 18 bronze awards. Wisconsin has won more awards than any other state in this contest since its inception in 1981.
Award-winning Wisconsin cheeses came from 13 companies, and six companies won multiple awards each. Winners included Sartori Company (8 awards), Saputo Specialty Cheese (8 awards), Carr Valley Cheese Co. (6 awards), Emmi Roth USA (3), Montchevre—Betin, Inc. (3), Lactalis American Group—Belmont (2), Arthur Schuman, Chula Vista Cheese for V&V Supremo Foods, CROPP Cooperative/Organic Valley, Holland’s Family Cheese, Saputo Cheese USA, The Artisan Cheese Exchange, and Uplands Cheese. Super gold medals went to Carr Valley Cheese Smoked Billy Blue and Saputo Specialty Cheese Reserve Blue Cheese.
The World Cheese Awards, now in its 27th year, received more than 2,700 entries from over 25 countries and were judged by 250 experts from around the world.
