La Brea Avenue’s Wirtshaus is declaring August "Schnitzel Month."
Starting Aug. 1 and running for the entire month of August, Wirtshaus will have seven special schnitzels, either modern takes on the German menu standby or updated versions of traditional schnitzels.
A sampling of Wirtshaus' schnitzel specials are Schnitzel Holstein (veal schnitzel topped with fried egg, anchovies, and capers); a Zigeuner Schnitzel (with a spicy sauce of bell peppers and onions); the popular Bretzel Schnitzel (pretzel-breaded schnitzel); Schnitzel Hawaii (pork schnitzel topped with pineapple and cheese); and a Cordon Bleu Schnitzel (schnitzel filled with ham and Swiss cheese).
Wirtshaus is located at 345 N. La Brea Ave. in Los Angeles.
