Oktoberfest at both of the Wirtshaus team’s restaurants and beer gardens—Wirtshaus and Rasselbock—will commence on September 22, with the celebration running through Saturday, October 27. Oktoberfest activities at both venues offer SoCal residents and visitors in Mid-City/Hollywood and Long Beach, a cover charge-free way to revel in the lengthy German holiday: there are NO cover charges to celebrate at either of the restaurant and bar locations.
Hollywood’s Wirtshaus and Long Beach’s Rasselbock will launch the five weeks of festivities with an official Oktoberfest kick-off at 3:00 PM on September 22, when a local “celebrity” guest will tap the restaurants’ respective, ceremonial Oktoberfest kegs (one at each location). As is now tradition at the restaurant group’s venues, the ceremonial kegs will be “on the house;” guests who are seated and purchase an entrée, drink for free from those first kegs until they run dry.
Wirtshaus’ Oktoberfest plans entail regularly-changing beer and food specials during the celebration weeks (specials will be posted in the restaurant and announced on social media); live traditional German music on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the restaurant’s Oktoberfest (live music starts at 6:30 PM); and accompanying Erdinger-sponsored décor and giveaways.
Wirtshaus will also encourage guests to break out their best Oktoberfest get-up, joining the fully costumed staff who will be dressed in their lederhosen or dirndls every weekend throughout Oktoberfest. Costume contests will occur each weekend, as will stein-holding contests.
Rasselbock’s Oktoberfest plans will involve much of the same as Wirtshaus’, plus Kid-Friendly “Family Sundays”, and a Back-Lot Beer Garden running the first weekend in October (October 6 is also German-American Day!) to include a live German oompah band; specials on Oktoberfest beers and a BBQ; a kid’s corner and more. Evolving Oktoberfest details for the restaurant group’s Long Beach location, may be found on Rasselbock’s web site and social media.
Wirtshaus is located at 345 N. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Rasselbock is at 4020 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807.
