Willa’s – the Tampa neighborhood restaurant and bar from Tampa natives Nate Siegel and Merrin Jenkins – announced that they will host a Recovery Brunch on Sunday, October 24 from 11am-3pm following the 10th annual Tampa Pig Jig – the fundraising event benefiting NephCure Kidney International taking place on Saturday, October 23.
Tickets are available to the public for pre-purchase here for tables of two, four or six guests at $50 per person and will include a prix-fixe, four-course brunch menu with a choice of entree and appetizer. A portion of all ticket sales will benefit NephCure Kidney International, the only nonprofit organization committed to supporting research, improving treatment and finding a cure for the debilitating kidney disease, Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and Nephrotic Syndrome.
The Tampa Pig Jig is a philanthropic event hosted each fall to support NephCure Kidney International. Since starting as a backyard barbeque in 2011, Tampa Pig Jig has helped donate millions to NephCure.
On October 24, guests are invited to Willa’s (1700 W. Fig Street) to recover from Saturday's festivities with a hearty menu. Select items from Willa’s delicious brunch menu – served Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm – will include:
- RAINBOW BOWL with braised greens, grains, mushrooms, avocado, pickled veggies & pico de gallo
- HUEVOS RANCHEROS with homemade chorizo, avocado & pico de gallo
- PORK BELLY & CHILLI CHEESE GRITS with sunny eggs, braised greens, red-eye gravy & brioche
- STEAK FRITES & EGGS with grilled USDA prime culotte, sunny eggs & green sauce
Beverages will be available to order a la carte, including hot coffee and green juice, plus two specialty-crafted cocktails. Pastries and sweets will be served including CRULLERS with cinnamon sugar, BISCUITS with cheese & chive and ZUCCHINI MUFFINS. Walk-ins are also welcome to enjoy the prix fixe menu and will be seated based on availability.
“At Willa’s we’re passionate about not only serving our Tampa neighbors, but also supporting causes close to the community’s heart,” says Willa’s Cofounder Nate Siegel. “It’s a huge honor to be able to join in such a tradition while doing what we love. This event began as this small backyard thing to help a friend and has grown into what it is today.”
Taking place on downtown Tampa’s beautiful waterfront in Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, the Tampa Pig Jig will feature a fierce BBQ competition, interactive games, lots of food and drink and musical performances from a lineup of country artists like Darius Rucker and Brett Young.
Willa’s opened in March 2021 inside a century-old industrial warehouse in North Hyde Park, serving a classic American menu with French influences. Executive Chef Gabriel Lopez helms the kitchen, and Mercedes Mestizo and Amber Carregal are Lead Bartenders. Rooted in a deep sense of hospitality, the restaurant is an easygoing gathering space boasting an extensive menu of eclectic, familiar recipes and daily specials including rotisserie chicken, fresh seafood and steak frites, and many menu items that are vegetarian.
