Hai Hospitality, the Austin, Texas-based restaurant group, announced the location of its forthcoming Uchi in Miami, the company’s eighth restaurant. Owner and Executive Chef Tyson Cole’s Uchi will be located at 252 NW 25th Street in Wynwood 25, a new mixed-use development in the heart of Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. Uchi Miami will mark the first time the group has opened a restaurant in Florida and its second restaurant outside of Texas. Hai Hospitality’s current restaurants include Uchi Austin, Uchi Dallas, Uchi Denver, Uchi Houston, Uchiko, Uchibā, and Loro.
“There are few cities as dynamic as Miami,” says Uchi chef and Owner Tyson Cole. “For a concept like Uchi—always striving to find new and unexpected flavor and texture combinations—the beautiful location, mix of cultural influences and thriving arts community—make it an incredibly exciting location for us.”
The menu at Uchi, which translated from Japanese means “house,” will include hot and cool tastings, makimono, yakimono, tempura and, of course, sushi and sashimi. Most dishes are designed to be shared by the table.
Award-winning Austin architecture firm Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, who has led the design efforts for other restaurants in the Hai Hospitality portfolio, will design the restaurant. The Miami-based FORMGROUP is the local architect of record. The 175-seat restaurant will include indoor dining and an outdoor patio lounge.
Wynwood 25, Uchi Miami’s new home, is a joint venture between East End Capital and Related Group.
