The beauty of both great ambience and food is celebrated by HMSHost as a first-place winner in the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Washington Metro Chapter’s Celebrate Design! 2011 competition.

HMSHost, a world leader in travel dining and shopping, was awarded top honors for the design of two of its airport restaurants, Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi Bar and Beaudevin.

Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi bar at Chicago O’Hare International Airport won in the Detail & Small/Unique Space commercial category. Beaudevin Wine Bar & Restaurant at Miami International Airport won in the commercial category for best design of a Hospitality or Retail Location.

HMSHost created both restaurants as an original dining experience for travelers at each airport.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized for the design and architecture of these two popular restaurants. Designing and building a restaurant in an airport brings challenges of working in smaller spaces and accomplishing all of the construction while the airport is open—practically 24 hours a day," says Claire Tamburro, HMSHost's director of design. "With this ASID Washington Metro chapter acknowledgement, HMSHost shares recognition with some of the top designers in the country.”

The Tennessee Chapter of ASID judged this year’s biennial project competition entries which were submitted anonymously. Entrants were judged using stringent requirements for décor, color, and use of space.

ASID is an organization of people driven by passion for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people’s lives. The Washington Metro Chapter of ASID has approximately 900 members.
