Tratto, the modern trattoria within The Marker, a Joie de Vivre Hotel located in San Francisco’s Theater District, launched its seasonally-inspired fall dinner menu under the direction of recently appointed Chef de Cuisine Robert Birnschein. The new fall menu at Tratto incorporates the freshest local artisan-produced seasonal ingredients in a variety of exciting modern Italian dishes that celebrate the harvest months, including house-made pastas, thin pizzas, and slow-cooked meats.

“It’s been great cooking in the Tratto kitchen with the team, and I can’t wait for guests to try these delicious new dishes. Fall brings us shorter days, cooler temperatures and wonderful, earthy flavors,” says Chef Birnschein. “I want to keep Italian comfort food exciting and fresh by incorporating some of my favorite ingredients like butternut squash, pomegranates, pepitas and autumn root vegetables.”

The fall dinner menu introduces a variety of new items to its standard menu and adds two new menu categories, Specials and Platters, which are designed to be shared family-style.  A new Specials menu includes a Daily Risotto; Fried Calamari and Rock Shrimp with Fennel, Lemon and Calabrian Chili Aïoli; and Farro and Beet Salad with Shredded Chicken, Apple, Kale, Goat Cheese and Pistachios.  “Stracotto” Braised Pot Roast with Crispy Potatoes, Horseradish Cream and Gremolata and Frutti di Mare with Grilled Sourdough featuring Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, Calamari and Nduja Brodo join the family-sized Platters menu.

New Small Plate options include Roasted Autumn Vegetables with Agro Dolce and Pepitas; Butter Beans “All’uccelletto” with Goat Cheese and Bread Crumbs; and Baked Polenta with Fontina, Mushrooms and Shirred Egg.  Porchetta with Celery Root Puree, Apple and Horseradish Gremolata and Braised Rock Fish with Tomato, Lemon, Olive and Caramelized Fennel are new to the Meat menu.  New Pastas include Butternut Squash Ravioli with Brown Butter, Pomegranate Agro Dolce, Pecans and Sage and Gnocchi with Spicy Lamb Ragu.  New featured Pizzas include Mushrooms with Garlic, Fontina, Truffle Oil and Sage and Spiced Salami with Nduja Sauce, Grilled Green Onions, Fontina and Spicy Walnut Honey. Tratto is a spirited, bar-driven restaurant serving rustic Italian fare and Italian-inspired cocktails. With a name inspired by the Italian happy hour tradition of “aperitivo,” Tratto’s ambiance is casual and friendly.
