Tickets are now on sale here for the third annual Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown, the favorite all-inclusive summer festival celebrating unique takes on the Southern staple on Sunday, August 5 from 2-5 pm.
Sponsored by Springer Mountain Farms and Big Green Egg and produced by Taste of Atlanta, the event will feature creative talent from over 30 prominent Southeastern chefs from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Local purveyor Springer Mountain Farms will provide chefs with chicken that’s 100% natural and raised without antibiotics, steroids, growth stimulants or hormones, and each chef will serve their unique recipe as they battle it out to win ‘Best Wing’ in a competition judged by festival goers and a panel of wing aficionados. Alcohol sponsors, including George Dickel, Dixie Vodka and Chattanooga Whiskey, will stir up cocktails complementing chef creations.
The festival will be held at a new, larger location: The Fairmont (1429 Fairmont Ave NW), a recently opened modern, industrial and air-conditioned indoor event venue in Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood.
Both general admission and VIP First Taster tickets offer attendees all-inclusive wings, side dishes, wine, beer, cocktail samples and live music from local Atlanta musician Alex Guthrie. VIP First Taster tickets allow guests to enter the event an hour early at 1pm and are $60 now through July 1. General admission tickets are $50 through July 1. Both tickets increase by $5 on July 2 and again on August 5 at the festival (if available).
Angel Flight, a volunteer pilot organization located at Atlanta's Dekalb Peachtree airport that provides flight services to patients in need of medical-related care, will be a nonprofit beneficiary for this event and will host a silent auction on-site. The festival also supports Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonprofit food rescue organization that fights hunger and reduces food waste in the city.
