Bar & Club Stats, as seen on "Bar Rescue" on Spike TV, kicked off the summer with free ID scanning for bar and club owners nationwide. The software, which works with an iPhone, iPod, or iPad, scans drivers’ licenses, using a camera or purchasable hardware attachment, and verifies the age of those attempting to purchase alcohol. The iTunes app also detects many fakes IDs and acts as a huge deterrent to those with fakes.

The introduction of free ID scanning coincides with “Card Hard” legislation introduced in New York State. The proposed law enforces the use of ID scanners for businesses that were previously caught selling to minors. It also gives businesses the right to confiscate fake IDs at their discretion. According to the Daily News, NYC enforcement agents issued close to 1,800 summonses in 2013 for the sale of alcohol to minors.

“The summer is by far the busiest drinking season, and we want to help out as many businesses as possible,” says Benjamin Silbert, Bar & Club Stats CEO. “There are so many Apple products on the market, they should be put towards making our streets and roads safer.”

Bar & Club Stats is working on an Android version of the app to release later this year.
