The Tavern by WS, a seasonal, contemporary American brasserie located at 37 Hudson Yards, announced the appointment of Tom Mackenzie as General Manager. In his new role, Mackenzie will oversee all dining and management operations at both The Tavern by WS and WS New York, the city’s newest food and wine focused private membership club which is located one level above The Tavern. Mackenzie brings more than a decade of hospitality experience to his new role, where he will guide the restaurant and club’s unique culinary and wine programming, as well as menu development that includes one of the most dynamic wines-by-the-glass lists in the city.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Tom to The Tavern and WS New York,” says Paul Nash, Managing Director at WS New York. “He has demonstrated an incredible commitment to creating seamless connectivity between team members. We look forward to showcasing his expertise to all of our guests who seek an unrivaled dining experience.”

Before his role at WS New York, Mackenzie served as General Manager at restaurateur Danny Meyer’s Manhatta, where he successfully managed the opening of the restaurant and ensured customer satisfaction and business profitability. Mackenzie spent ten years in a variety of roles, including a managerial position at The Modern, a Michelin-two starred restaurant in The Museum of Modern Art. Before moving to New York, Mackenzie also held managerial positions at some of London’s most well-regarded restaurants, including J Sheekey Restaurant and Atlantic Bar, where he was named a member of the prestigious “30 Under 30” by CODE Hospitality.
