Award-winning Los Angeles restaurant group IDG is opening a new outpost, with its popular eateries Sushi Roku and BOA Steakhouse under one roof. Ground-up construction includes both restaurants and dining rooms side-by-side—an instant must stop culinary destination serving the South Bay and beyond. The Manhattan Beach location will narrow IDG’s gap between Santa Monica and Newport Beach, offering guests their choice of beach city dining experience.
Founders Lee Maen and Philip Cummins are especially excited to open the doors to the public. The restaurant opened with limited availability on Thursday, October 13 through Tuesday October 18th and will open fully for dinner on Friday, October 21st following two nights of private events. Expect the addition of a robust lunch offering at both restaurants at the end of the month.
“Manhattan Beach and the South Bay are such beautiful and dynamic communities from the beaches to their businesses, and wonderful dining,” says Lee Maen, co-founder/partner. “We know our guests like to work hard and play hard. We’re looking forward to offering two new unique venues for them to do both—over an excellent meal and a cocktail.”
Sushi Roku has been a mainstay of Los Angeles upscale Japanese dining since 1997, when its original Los Angeles location opened to great acclaim. BOA Steakhouse opened its flagship restaurant in 2001, reinventing the traditional American steakhouse for a contemporary clientele. Together, these two iconic establishments seek to attract diners eager to experience a global menu of chef-curated delicacies, whether it’s Sushi Roku’s signature sushi, sashimi and izakaya-style bar fare or the 40-day dry-aged New York strip and A5 Japanese Wagyu, legendary Caesar salad, and sommelier selections that keep guests coming back to BOA Steakhouse.
Carefully curated interior design has long been a focus of IDG restaurants, and the new Manhattan Beach location is no exception. Designed by Finn Wijatno Architects, Sushi Roku seats 100 guests and features an NFT art wall: A wall of screens displaying digital art, all available for purchase. The bar is a dual sushi bar and cocktail bar in order to best display the colorful creations from the food and beverage teams, and an outdoor patio connects diners with their natural surroundings.
BOA Steakhouse seats 160 guests and was designed by Tag Front, inspired by the question: “What would Tom Ford’s beach house in Manhattan Beach look like?” The space features a sprawling open-air patio perfect for groups and events. The dining room is anchored by a 12 seat bar and lined with cozy booths and custom carved wooden tabletops with a beautifully curved edge—a nod to Manhattan Beach’s surfing history that dates back to the 1940s. The showstopping bar continues their surf culture appreciation with an exquisite hand carved bar top resembling longboards of the past.
Sushi Roku and Boa Steakhouse are located on their own grounds within the Manhattan Village project at 3110 N Sepulveda Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Shopping center and valet parking are available for guests’ convenience.
