Sterno Products, the name synonymous with quality and performance in portable food warming for over 100 years, announced that it has renewed its commitment to Mercy Chefs to continue its partnership in the new year. Since 2017, Sterno has helped the non-profit organization serve over 400,000 professionally prepared, restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in national emergencies and natural disasters, with a goal to continue our pledge to help serve hot meals to those in need in 2019.

Most recently, Sterno worked closely with Mercy Chefs to provide resources and employee time, including deployment of the brand’s Executive Chef Thad Smith, to support the organization in what it does best – serving hot, nutritious and comforting food to those in times of need. The efforts within the last year were on the ground after Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Florence, affecting several states across the U.S. The partnership has also helped to extend the reach of Mercy Chefs’ mobile kitchens enabling deliveries to be made in surrounding, more remote communities affected by disasters.

“Helping to serve hot, comforting food, and most importantly, making sure it is served at a food-safe temperature is our business, and we believe that no one should go without a nourishing meal in times of emergencies and disaster,” said Craig Carnes, president of Sterno Products. “We’re honored to continue our partnership with Mercy Chefs to further their mission and make an even bigger impact on communities when they need it the most.”

“At every gathering that we coordinate, Sterno is a constant, ensuring that the food we serve is at its best,” said Gary LeBlanc founder and president of Mercy Chefs. “A comforting meal with nutritious, hot food brings people together even during the toughest of times and provides a moment of normalcy. Our partnership with Sterno allows us to reach more people in need, and ultimately, allows Mercy chefs to focus on what we do best, and that’s cook.”
