Stephen Starr Events, a division of Stephen Starr Restaurants, is heading to the Bronx where it will partner with the beloved New York Botanical Garden in a project aimed to introduce new and exciting restaurant and food service concepts to the sprawling New York landmark.

With renovations commencing in late 2013, the synergy of the two respected brands, Stephen Starr Events and The New York Botanical Garden, will transform the existing Garden Café and Visitor Center Café into dining destinations with innovative cuisine and design.

This collaboration will also be translated into expansive catering opportunities, including private and corporate events, weddings and custom event experiences.

Catering menus feature signature cocktails and dishes from distinguished Starr restaurants like Buddakan, Morimoto, and Caffe Storico.

Stephen Starr comments, “It’s tremendously exciting to partner with one of New York’s most important destinations to bring a new level of dining services at the Botanical Garden.

We are planning creative, stylish and innovative concepts in the way that our popular Starr restaurants have done for the last decade.”

“The audience for The New York Botanical Garden continues to grow and expand, becoming more diverse,” says Gregory Long, chief executive officer and The William C. Steere Sr. president.

“Our magnificent gardens and collections—longstanding and new—and dynamic exhibition and program offerings attracted more than 820,000 visitors last year alone. We are interested in adults and families having a richer food service experience.

Garden visitors want more options, and they will now have supper on summer evenings and many other new innovations. We are so pleased that our selection process has led us to Stephen Starr Events, a company that has quickly distinguished itself as a multi-concept restaurant leader, and we look forward to embarking upon this new partnership that will provide enhanced dining options for numbers of Botanical Garden visitors.”

The culinary footprint in the Botanical Garden will also expand outside the café spaces with seasonal, tented dining experiences throughout the grounds to compliment blockbuster exhibitions like the Holiday Train Show—which in its 21st year drew nearly 200,000 people—and the hugely popular Orchid Show.

Additionally there will be unique food kiosks and street carts sprinkled throughout the Garden, featuring similar Starr-quality meals and treats. The new food establishments will open in spring 2014.
