The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, Inc., a collection of iconic American steakhouses headquartered in Boston, introduced their new knife partnership with ZWILLING J.A. Henckels. Smith & Wollensky, widely known as “America’s Steakhouse,” has collaborated with the esteemed knife manufacturer to design custom steak knives that will ensure the best steak eating experience possible.

“After an extensive search for the finest steak knives that align with our commitment to quality, we partnered with the team at ZWILLING J.A. Henckels due to their long-standing reputation for producing premium cutlery around the world,” says Corporate Executive Chef Matt King. “At Smith & Wollensky, we strive to provide the highest quality steaks, service, and dining atmosphere for our guests. From our in-house dry aging and hand-butchering process, to our selection and care of steak knives, we pride ourselves in going the extra mile to deliver an extraordinary steakhouse experience for our guests.”

This fall, as Smith & Wollensky gears up to celebrate their 40th anniversary in October, all Smith & Wollensky locations in the United States have upgraded their cutlery to these customized, non-serrated ZWILLING J.A. Henckels steak knives appointed with the following features:

  • A fine edge blade made of high carbon stainless steel, hardened using the FRIODUR method of rapid heating and freezing for the perfect combination of sharpen-ability and edge retention
  • Pakka wood handle for a beautiful wood grain richness with superb moisture resistance to prevent fading and cracking of the handle

With this custom design, the straight edge blades will offer a cleaner cut that guarantees extreme tenderness and an elevated overall dining experience for guests, as they will be able to smoothly slice into their dry-aged steaks.

The exclusive steak knives adorning each place setting at Smith & Wollensky will also be available for purchase in restaurant and online starting in October, making for the perfect gift-set for any culinary enthusiast: https://www.smithandwollensky.com/our-shop

As the restaurant group celebrates their 40th anniversary in October, a special commemorative gift set of four knives with 40th anniversary messaging will be available for a special price of $77 for a limited time, in honor of the year 1977 when the first Smith & Wollensky location opened in New York City. After October, the four-piece set will be priced at $125.

Smith & Wollensky’s partnership with ZWILLING J.A. Henckels is the perfect pairing to another meaningful collaboration the restaurant group announced last spring with Double R Ranch, their exclusive premium beef vendor. Smith & Wollensky’s USDA prime steaks and signature filets are sourced from a network of small family farms and sustainably produced by Double R Ranch and Snake River Farms in the Pacific Northwest, and further enhanced through in-house dry aging for 28 days.
