The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group (SWRG) is giving back with its special holiday ornament. The restaurant group is selling ornaments between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, with proceeds raised being donated to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. Ornaments are available at all company locations or online at the new enhanced Shop section of the website.

“The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism is very grateful to Smith & Wollensky for their kindness in donating to our foundation last month at the grand opening of their newest restaurant [at the] Boston Atlantic Wharf,” says Doug Flutie. “Since then, our partnership has continued to grow. We are especially excited about the holiday season, during which a portion of the proceeds from sales of the customized Flutie Foundation and Smith & Wollensky ornament will benefit the Foundation.”

SWRG will also host appreciation dinners for support staff, families, and friends impacted by autism at all nine company locations. Everyone is invited to nominate a deserving supporter—a person or couple who has shown great commitment and dedication to raising awareness of autism spectrum disorder, or has made a significant impact in the lives of individuals with autism. The nominee(s) can be a parent, teacher, advocate, adult with autism spectrum disorder, or anyone else who has made a difference in the autism community. Nominations can be submitted at www.smithandwollensky.com for selection after the New Year. The dinners will be scheduled during January 2012.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism through the ornament sales and autism supporter appreciation dinners,” says Michael Feighery, president of SWRG. “Through our recent endeavors with the Foundation, our company has raised $12,000 from beverage and event proceeds generated from the Boston Atlantic Wharf grand opening. We selected this organization because it is near and dear to the Smith & Wollensky family. The family of Joe Floyd, our Northeast director of operations for SWRG, has been directly affected by autism. We look forward to welcoming these deserving supporters to a special dinner as thanks for their tireless work.”
