Simmzy’s, one of the original craft beer bars in Los Angeles and a leader within the contemporary pub-grub movement, will bring its acclaimed selection of craft beer, small batch wine, and upscale gastropub fare to the bustling bayside community of Belmont Shore in Long Beach later this month.

The nearly bottle-less beverage program at Simmzy’s, curated by co-founder Mike Simms (Tin Roof Bistro, M.B. Post), offers a selection of quality artisan beers and small batch wines on draft and reflects Simmzy’s pioneering efforts in all things craft.

The 30 rotating craft beer taps will highlight the best beer out there, from limited allocations to special releases (think Pliny the Younger and Golden Road Brewing). Listen for that “keg’s blown” bell rung by GM Micah Schiesel, and know that another artisan brew is being freshly tapped and thrown in the rotation.

The “small but mighty” selection of 10 boutique, small production wines are also exclusively on draft, giving patrons that “straight out of the barrel” experience. Available by the three- or six-ounce glass, Simmzy’s selection is sure to please every palate–even if that palate leans toward their Signature Sangria.

Executive Chef and co-founder Anne Conness (Campanile, EM Bistro, Napa Valley Grill, Tin Roof Bistro) will showcase local, thoughtfully-sourced, seasonal ingredients in the form of eclectic, refreshing pub grub–whose present-day notoriety she helped garner.

Conness will impart her fine-dining skills on farmer’s market frittersof carrot, zucchini, and yellow squash, with Drake Family Farms’ goat cheese, mint, and dried fruit chutney; Grilled Fish Tacos made with fresh, wild-caught Oregon Rock Cod and topped with thinly-sliced fried fresno chilis; and wood-fired pizzas like the Arugula Foldover, a goat cheese and pesto pizza topped with a peppery arugula salad.

Let’s not forget the upscale, yet unfussy namesake Simmzy’s Burger, Angus beef, chow chow onions, melted cheddar, garlic aioli, and Tanimura & Antle Artisan lettuce and tomato piled atop a Breadbar bun.

Designed by architect Stephen Francis Jones of S.F. Jones Architects (Wolfgang Puck’s Spago and Chinios, M.B. Post), Simmzy’s was inspired by the lifeguard towers that line the shores of Long Beach. The 3,000 square foot eatery will seat approximately 98 guests in a space comprised of communal and individual tables, a counter, and a patio, where each seat has a blue sky view.

Vintage tinted mason jars are repurposed as light fixtures, complementing the reclaimed wood floors and exposed rafters that together create an ambiance that is airy and casual. Communal tables encourage lively conversation among friends and soon-to-be friends, channeling the community’s relaxed and inviting bay-side culture.

Simmzy’s is located at 5271 E. Second Street in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore neighborhood. For more information, please visit www.simmzys.com
