Shooters Waterfront Creates Rum with The Real McCoy

Shooters Waterfront announced its very own rum in collaboration with The Real McCoy Rum. Just in time for the Prohibition Centennial—the 100-year anniversary of the start of Prohibition in America—Shooters Waterfront has debuted a limited batch of The Real McCoy Rum specifically labeled and numbered for the restaurant. In conjunction with the launch of its own rum, Shooters Waterfront has also added new seasonal items to its menu.

The Real McCoy Rum that has been exclusively crafted for Shooters Waterfront has been aged for 12 years and adheres to the belief of never adulterating the rum with added sugars, flavors or perfumes. As a result, the rum is single-distilled in a rare combination of column and artisan pot stills, then authentically aged in heavy charred American oak bourbon barrels. Buttery-oak in color, The Real McCoy® Rum is exceptionally smooth, mature and balanced. With earthy notes and hints of tobacco, touches of caramel and orange zest are immediately recognizable upon the first taste.

Shooters Waterfront’s batch of rum will be served neat for $16 a glass; bottles for purchase are available for $54. The special rum is now used to make the Guava Martini ($12), which features guava puree and lime, and the Rum Runner ($10), available upon request. For dessert, those with a sweet tooth can try the fan-favorite Pineapple Upside-Down Rum Cake ($11), which incorporates The Real McCoy® Rum for its caramel-rum sauce, and is topped off with brandied cherries.

The Real McCoy Rum was founded by filmmaker Bailey Pryor, who created a documentary film about Bill McCoy, a well-known rum-runner during the Prohibition era. While making the film about McCoy, Pryor decided to create The Real McCoy® Rum in Barbados, the very same spot McCoy used to buy his own rum. Since its inception, The Real McCoy® Rum has proven to be a success, having won over 100 major spirits industry awards worldwide and is currently distributed in more than 40 states in the United States, as well as 23 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.

Shooters Waterfront has also introduced new food offerings, which include additions to the brunch, lunch and dinner menus. New entrees include the Paella ($36), made with shrimp, mussels, bottleneck clams, chicken, chorizo and peas, and St. Louis Style Ribs ($35), a whole rack of dry rubbed ribs smothered in BBQ sauce accompanied by a Southern fried potato salad and grilled corn. For patrons looking for healthier options, the refreshing Roasted Red & Gold Beet Salad ($17), crafted with baby arugula, red kale, spinach, watercress, goat cheese, watermelon radish, crisp peas, pistachios and affilia sprouts topped with a toasted cumin-dijon vinaigrette, or the Vegan-friendly Pipían Verde ($20), made with grilled broccoli, roasted baby peppers, sautéed portobello mushrooms, spinach, heirloom tomatoes and saffron quinoa, are the perfect choice.

Shooters’ 400-seat dining room is outfitted with neutral décor, tranquil lighting and nautical accents. The restaurant’s chic lawn includes outdoor seating, fire pits, new dockside couches and two oversized Birdcage cabanas. Each of the restaurant’s three artfully designed bars offer handcrafted cocktails, beer and an international selection of wines by the glass or bottle.
