Katsuya, sbe’s internationally renowned culinary concept, continues to grow its global portfolio, opening the 10th location at Baha Mar, the $4.2 billion integrated resort development located along the pristine beaches of Nassau, Bahamas. Katsuya Baha Mar is centrally located in the heart of the largest casino in the Caribbean, and is sbe's first concept to open at the luxury resort destination. To celebrate, sbe executives including Sebastien Silvestri, Senior Vice President of F&B, Hotel Division, and Joe Faust, President of Dakota Development, hosted a grand opening party and samurai sword ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 for friends, family, and notable attendees. Close to 300 guests attended the event including Katsuya’s master sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi; Graeme Davis, President of Baha Mar; Bahamas Tourism and Aviation Minister Hon. Dionisio D'Aguilar; and journalist, author and television personality, Carole Radziwill.
Guests were greeted by a steel drum band upon arrival, and enjoyed music from DJ Devin Lucien, a modern Geisha fan dance and fire dance, and a photo booth sponsored by evian on the patio. A variety of Katsuya’s specialty and staple dishes were served, such as Creamy Rock Shrimp Tempura, Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, Hamachi Jalapeno, Salmon Caviar, Toro Nigiri, Wagyu Robata, Chicken Negima and Macarons complemented by a variety of specialty cocktails, wine, sake, beer, and bottles of Perrier-Jouët champagne.
Showcasing the dynamic pairing of master sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi and design impresario Philippe Starck, the 250-seat Katsuya Baha Mar is sbe’s first concept to open in the Caribbean and joins existing locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Dubai and Kuwait. In addition to Baha Mar, the brand will add a second location in Miami when SLS LUX Brickell opens later this year, and has plans to open 11 more locations by 2020 – over half of which will be set in the Middle East.
Located at One Baha Mar Blvd, Nassau, The Bahamas at Baha Mar Casino, Katsuya is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
