The owners of Reid’s Fine Foods announce their new concept, Salted Melon Market & Eatery, will open July 15, 2022 at 100 West Worthington Avenue, Suite 107, in the ground floor of the Lowe’s Global Technology Center. Salted Melon is a healthy, convenient destination for people who live, work, and play in South End, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and provisions.

“We look forward to bringing our chef-crafted menu and curated selection of innovative and healthy packaged foods to this ideal location in South End,” says Thomas Coker, COO of Salted Melon. “Our everyday market & eatery will meet our guest’s needs at multiple points throughout their day, from coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the morning to salads and sandwiches for lunch and a vibrant atmosphere for a night out, plus everything you need to prepare a homecooked meal conveniently available in-store and on the Salted Melon app.”

Salted Melon seats a total of 130 guests in the colorfully designed dining area and at the light-filled bar, plus another 40 seats on the patio. The dining area is the perfect place to refuel in between meetings or relax in the evenings and on weekends.

For guests on-the-go, Salted Melon will offer online ordering through its website and app, both for pickup and delivery. The app features a rewards system to give back to frequent guests, with an initial offer of $5 off an order for anyone who downloads the app and creates an account.

Salted Melon will serve an All Day menu beginning at 7am on weekdays, which includes breakfast, salads, wraps, sandwiches, bowls, coffee and espresso, bakery items, and Charlotte’s first bone broth bar featuring locally made Brave Broth. Salted Melon will serve an expanded, full service menu, including small and large plates alongside cocktails, beer and wine, beginning at 4pm on weekdays and weekends. Brunch will be served on the weekends beginning at 8am. Executive Chef Andres Moncayo and Chef de Cuisine Jay Labs developed the Salted Melon menus and oversee the culinary team to ensure the utmost quality and presentation for every dish and order.

“Watching South End grow, we recognized the demand for a convenient, health-focused concept that was approachable yet elevated. We hope it will have something for everyone and that it will be both a convenient option for those on the go and a welcoming space to enjoy with friends or for one’s morning coffee,” says Coker.

In the market, guests will find a curated selection of retail items not yet seen in local markets, keeping health conscious, wellness-minded guests top of mind. Salted Melon will also carry a selection of well-known Reid’s Fine Foods products, including snack mixes and take-and-bake entrees, in addition to daily grocery staples. Market items will be available to order for pickup and delivery on the Salted Melon app.

Barrie Benson Interior Design, who designed all Reid’s Fine Foods locations, also designed the 7,000 square foot market & eatery. Salted Melon worked with The Plaid Penguin, a Charlotte-based branding and communications firm, to develop the name and brand.
